Living It Up...My Experience At Spencer's
Theresa Behenna, Professional Speaker/Pianist
In these days of poor customer service, bad attitudes and restaurants that seem to care less about their clientele, it's a breath of fresh air to experience old fashioned courteous above-and-beyond service that leaves a lasting impression.
With my friend Sir Jack Blackeby, in town from New Jersey, we went to Spencer's for Steaks and Chops at Hilton Americas downtown for dinner Sunday night. Staff were among the sweetest I've encountered anywhere, but due to a glitch in communications, they didn't have our reservation upon arrival. No worries though, we were seated at a nice table and proceeded to chow down on deeeelicious lamb chops with creamed corn to die for.
And then 'it' happened...
Manager Brian Maxson came to our table and graciously apologized for the reservation snafoo and asked if we would care for a complimentary dessert atop the hotel. Natch we couldn't refuse and offer like that, right? Escorted by our waiter Hector, we arrived on the 24th floor (which is a private events venue) and to our sheer delight and surprise there was a corner table set with two splits of champagne and a decadent dessert of chocolate mousse. Complet with red draped chairs and candlelight, the spectacular view was second only to the charming attitudes of all the staff who treated us like royalty.
Her Royal Highness thought this was worth writing home about.
